Temple B'nai Chaim

Celebrate Shabbat! As always, everyone is welcome at all services. We offer a variety of services for our entire community.

Family service
(7:30 p.m., ~45 minutes long, 1st Friday of the month)

These services are geared towards families with school aged children. We sing upbeat melodies used in school and camp. There is no formal sermon. Come welcome Shabbat with high energy and a youthful spirit!

Torah service
(7:30 p.m. ~1 hr,15 mins, 2nd Friday of the month)

These services are for those who love to hear the Torah chanted and expounded upon. There is a full Torah service and sermon with traditional melodies and rituals.

Musical Shabbat
(7:30 p.m. ~ 1 hr, 15 mins, 3rd Friday of the month)

These services feature an expanded musical component, with special selections programmed by the cantor around a unifying theme or genre. Guest artists and musicians may be present.

Kabbalat Shabbat & Discussion Group
(7:30 p.m., ~ 1 hr, 15 mins, 4th Friday of the month and every Friday during the summer)

These services feature an abbreviated liturgy, with a focus on discussion of a relevant topic suggested by the Torah portion or current events in a reflective, Jewish setting. Come prepared to share your thoughts!

Tot Shabbat
(6 p.m., ~30 mins, four times per year)

This brief service is geared towards very young children and will feature a creative story or skit enhanced by child-friendly Shabbat music. The 30-minute service is followed by a 30-minute (pot-luck style) oneg. The next Tot Shabbat service will be held on March 12, 2010.
